PURPOSE of the CommunityGarden
Grants Program:
Each year since 2008, the Snohomish County Master Gardener Foundation (SCMGF) has set aside $10,000 from its general fund for a "Community Gardens Program". The purpose of the fund is to provide help for non-profit and other community groups within Snohomish County to set up community gardens. Requests will be evaluated individually on the areas SCMGF considers most essential for successful community garden programs (see items on the application form).
Collaboration between organizations is encouraged and projects that show matching contributions, either direct or indirect, will be considered more favorably. Projects that demonstrate leadership development at the grass roots level, community support, and involvement and planning for long-term sustainability will also be considered more favorably. A program must have a SnohomishCounty Master Gardener as a sponsor, mentor or participant for the garden.

Snohomish County. Applicants can apply for new funds (garden establishment) or existing gardens (garden enhancement/expansion). NOTE: Previous award recipients must wait one year from the original award before applying for garden enhancement/expansion awards.

Materials necessary to establish a new garden or support existing gardens. This includes tools, seeds, plants, planting materials. The grant will not fund salaries, cost of property purchase or rental, cost of permanent structures (fences, tool sheds) or erecting such structures, or expenses not directly related to the garden project.
AWARD amounts:
Individually determined. Average awards will be between $500 and $1000.
AWARD period:
